Replacement

Roof replacement and new roofing

Tear-off, an honest look at what the decking is actually doing, and a new roof from one of six shingle lines, put on by the crew that has been doing this in Tahlequah since 1987.

Chapter 01

What a tear off actually finds

Until the old shingles come off, nobody has really seen the deck in years, not even the homeowner. That is where the crew finds rot at the eave, the lowest point on the roof, where water sits the longest and does the most damage over time.

Old felt paper that has gone brittle and nail pops working their way up through years of layers turn up the same way. None of it goes back down without you knowing about it first.

A day and a half, and a yard that still looks like a yard

One customer wrote that the crew worked harder than any construction crew she had seen and got the job done in a day and a half, cleaning as they went rather than saving it all for the end.

Another said the plants were covered before anything came off the roof and the yard was cleaned up well once the job was done. That is the standard on every house, not just the ones that leave a review.

Chapter 03

Six shingle lines, and a willingness to chase the one you want

Calvin & Son carries Malarkey, GAF, IKO, Certainteed, Owens Corning and Tamco. That is enough range to match most budgets and most looks without settling for whatever happens to be on the truck.

One customer wanted a shingle that was not easy to find, and the owner went out of his way to track it down rather than talk her into something more convenient. Say what you want early and it can usually be sorted.

Cleanup that is part of the job, not a favor

Plants get covered before the tear off starts, and the crew cleans as the work goes rather than leaving it all for the last afternoon. A magnet sweep for nails happens before anyone leaves the property.

Customers have written that their yard came out cleaner than it was before the crew arrived, and that the cleanup was spotless. That is the bar, on a new roof the same as a repair.

He went well out of his way to secure the hard-to-get shingles we wanted, and his crew got the job done in a day and a half. Eva Garroutte, Google review.
